The Human Computer Interaction Group is part of EPFL, the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne one of the leading universities in Europe. We are located in sunny Lausanne, which is 30 miles away from Geneva, in the french speaking part of Switzerland.
We are concerned with the human factors of computing systems. In a computer-driven society, it is too often that we build large software systems which can solve complex problems, but are unable to communicate to users. Put it differently, these machines may be able to think like humans, but they have no social capabilities.
Our research group examines issues in the common area of human-machine interaction, artificial intelligence, cognitive science, and information visualization.
